Full 2023 All-American Bowl Roster Breakdown

Live Updates from All-American Bowl Practice Afternoon Session

3:18 p.m. CT: Jelani McDonald continues his very strong day. Lined up and cornerback and covered Ohio State signee Carnell Tate. Stayed in phase and prevented the completion. He has a very rare combination of linebacker size and corner coverage skills and athleticism. — Charles Power, On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings

3:10 p.m. CT: Alabama signee Keon Keeley gets a sack in the first play of 11-on-11, beating Texas A&M signee Colton Thomasson around the right side. Follows that up with another pressure to force an incompletion. — Charles Power, On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings

3:03 p.m. CT: UCLA signee Dante Moore is having the best afternoon of all the QBs. Getting the ball out on time and accurately. Hits Carnell Tate who beats Calvin Simpson-Hunt on a post route for a long gain. — Charles Power, On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings

3:01 p.m. CT: LSU signee Jalen Brown showing some big time long speed taking a quick pass from Dante Moore up the sideline for a long gain. Samuel Omosigho sticks with Brandon Inniss on a wheel route with very strong coverage. Notre Dame signee Micah Bell jumps an Aidan Chiles pass for a diving INT. Georgia signee Jordan Hall has been very disruptive on 1-on-1s and inside drills. — Charles Power, On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings

2:55 p.m. CT: Tangible juice and burst on display from Texas A&M signee Rueben Owens in inside drills. Owens has a bit of the wow factor every time he’s touched the ball today. — Charles Power, On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings

2:53 p.m. CT: I’ve been impressed with Monroe Freeling’s ability to get to the second level and body linebackers in inside drills. Oregon signee Austin Novosad with a nice pass over the middle to Malachi Coleman in 7-on-7. Oklahoma signee Makari Vickers jumps a Lincoln Kienholz pass that hung in the air for a near pick. — Charles Power, On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings

2:47 p.m. CT: Emphatic 1v1 win for Alabama EDGE signee Yhonzae Pierre against Georgia signee Monroe Freeling. Pierre put a little stutter step on him and beat him badly. Very strong rep from him and shows why he’s turned in a strong first few days. — Charles Power, On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings

2:46 p.m. CT: LSU wide receiver signee Jalen Brown comes down with the catch of the session so far, getting vertical and elevated to come down with it. — Charles Power, On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings

2:44 p.m. CT: Ohio State five-star wide receiver signee Brandon Inniss gets open for a long touchdown. Alabama five-star running back signee Justice Haynes beats Oklahoma signee Samuel Omosigho deep, but the ball is a little off target. — Charles Power, On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings

2:42 p.m. CT: Ohio State receiver signee Carnell Tate beats Buckeyes signee Calvin Simpson-Hunt down the sideline and comes down with a nice, contested catch. — Charles Power, On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings

2:40 p.m. CT: Georgia signee Monroe Freeling looked good in one-on-ones. Dropped into pass-block well and then stoned his opposition. — Jeremy Johnson, National Recruiting Writer

2:36 p.m. CT: Jelani McDonald continues to look strong in pass coverage, notching a PBU playing cornerback against Minnesota signee Kenric Lanier. — Charles Power, On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings

2:35 p.m. CT: LSU linebacker signee Whit Weeks continues to look like one of the best coverage linebackers here, notching a pass breakup on and out-breaking route from the running back. — Charles Power, On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings

2:34 p.m. CT: Watching one-on-ones from the press box, and Texas A&M running back signee Rueben Owens is a quick standout. He’s highly advanced in the passing game with considerable burst and ball skills. He’s really working the opposing linebackers. TCU signee Cordale Russell was able to get deep but was a little inconsistent coming down with a late throw. Alabama safety signee Caleb Downs was strong in coverage as well. — Charles Power, On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings

2:15 p.m. CT: Five-star Alabama signee Keon Keeley looks to be favoring his left shoulder a bit this week and now has a brace on that side — but he does look to be warming up this afternoon. Notre Dame DL signee Brenan Vernon is back dressed out after missing yesterday’s afternoon session with an illness. — Charles Power, On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings

2:11 p.m. CT: We’re here in the Alamodome for this afternoon’s joint practice. One that typically is the most eventful session of the week. I’m in the press box to see the whole field. Position groups are currently warming up. — Charles Power, On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings

2:05 p.m. CT: Both teams warming up for a joint practice.

Live Updates from All-American Bowl Practice Afternoon Session

11:46 a.m. CT: Both the East and West teams have wrapped for the morning.

11:45 a.m. CT — East: Ohio State signee Brandon Inniss has been force-fed more passes behind the LOS or underneath than anyone on the field. — Cody Bellaire, On3 Scouting and Rankings Assistant

11:40 a.m. CT — West: Wrapping up the morning practice for the West team. They went into a two-minute drill situation in 11-on-11. Jelani McDonald continued to look very good. Being a 6-foot-2, 200-pounder (who could maybe end up being a linebacker) showing coverage skills at cornerback is very impressive. TCU signee Cordale Russell was up and down. Dropped what would’ve been a surefire touchdown, then went up and made a high-point grab on a pass from Lincoln Kienholz.

I thought Austin Novosad, the Oregon signee, continued to look very solid at quarterback. He was comfortable, seemed to be able to handle pressure and got the ball out on time accurately. He has pretty good arm strength and was the top QB in the morning session. Kienholz looked solid as well. Maybe doesn’t have quite the pure passer ability yet, but he was able to get it out quick and distribute to playmakers. — Charles Power, On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings

11:21 a.m. CT — West: Uncommitted receiver Malik Elzy has been the most pleasant surprise for me this week. I always thought he was a nice player, but he fits in as one of the best receivers at this event. Elzy looks incredibly smooth. — Mike Singer, BlueandGold.com recruiting analyst

11:15 a.m. CT — West: The much smaller Micah Bell just had a nice pass break up on Malachi Coleman, who ran a deep post route. Nice play by the Irish signee. — Mike Singer, BlueandGold.com recruiting analyst

11:12 a.m. CT — West: Clemson signee Tomarrion Parker continues to be good in the 1v1 setting. Had multiple wins, including beating Alabama signee Kadyn Proctor off the edge. Had another impressive rep to start off and also lined up inside on a few reps. Alabama signee Yhonzae Pierre also looked good, just has natural bend and burst off the edge. The offensive line was a little hit or miss. The two Utah signees, Caleb Lomu and Spencer Fano, stood out. They probably acquitted themselves well. Oregon signee Johnny Bowens, a late addition to practice this morning, did a nice job at both end and defensive tackle. — Charles Power, On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings

11:09 a.m. CT — West: Ohio State EDGE signee Joshua Mickens showing you can win with speed over power in one-on-ones. — Matt Parker, Lettermen Row recruiting analyst

11:08 a.m. CT — West: Malachi Coleman vs Calvin Simpson-Hunt was a fun matchup in 7v7 and one that was pretty even. Simpson-Hunt had a nice pass break up, but Coleman also beat him deep once. — Mike Singer, BlueandGold.com recruiting analyst

10:50 a.m. CT — East: The East offensive line group as a whole is so physically imposing. The starting 5 of DJ Chester, Monroe Freeling, Caden Jones, Kelton Smith and Samson Okunlola looks like a Power 5 game-ready unit right now. That doesn’t even include the likes of five-star Penn State signee Jven Williams. Absolutely loaded group. — Cody Bellaire, On3 Scouting and Rankings Assistant

10:48 a.m. CT — West: Overall, Calvin Simpson-Hunt has looked like the top corner in the group this morning. Uncommitted athlete Jelani McDonald had a great rep against TCU signee Cordale Russell, who is one of the more physically gifted receivers in the cycle. I also thought Oregon quarterback signee Austin Novosad threw the ball well in that session. — Charles Power, On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings

10:46 a.m. CT — East: Georgia tight end signee Pearce Spurlin’s feet are fantastic for a player his size. One of the easier movers out here. — Cody Bellaire, On3 Scouting and Rankings Assistant

10:44 a.m. CT — West: Standouts in coverage during one-on-ones from West practice include Ohio State signee Calvin Simpson-Hunt, who shows in coverage down field, making plays against some of the more talented receivers in attendance this morning. Same goes for Indiana signee Jordan Shaw, one of the top performers from day one in San Antonio. He continues to make plays on the football. — Sam Spiegelman, National Recruiting Analyst

10:41 a.m. CT — West: Ohio State cornerback signee Calvin Simpson-Hunt has showcased his press abilities in one on ones this morning. If a receiver gets across him, Simpson-Hunt still forces a breakup. — Matt Parker, Lettermen Row recruiting analyst

10:40 a.m. CT — West: Nice adjustment on an underthrown ball by Nebraska signee Malachi Coleman. Played all over the field at the high school level, but has been working with the receiver group over the first two days here. He is very long with an outstanding catch radius, and he pulled in a really difficult grab along the sidelines with his arms outstretched. I know Nebraska likes him at safety, but he’s also making some big plays at receiver in San Antonio. — Sam Spiegelman, National Recruiting Analyst

10:37 a.m. CT — West: Watching the defensive line group from the West work here, and I’m impressed by the approach and effort level. Alabama signee Yhonzae Pierre going through drills very deliberately, giving a high overall effort level. Looking at the offensive line group and how they move around in drills, both Utah signees — Caleb Lomu and Spencer Fano — notably have very light feet. Bouncy movers with good agility, and they have the frames to continue getting stronger and adding weight. — Charles Power, On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings

10:29 a.m. CT — West: Oregon DL signee Johnny Bowens is here practicing for the West. Local San Antonio prospect as a late roster add. — Charles Power, On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings

10:10 a.m. CT — West: Special-teamers don’t get a ton of attention at these all-star games, but I just want to say that Texas A&M punter signee Tyler White has an absolute cannon for a leg. The ball just comes off it different, and it felt like it was going to hit the roof at the Alamodome. — Charles Power, On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings

10:09 a.m. CT — West: Out of practice for the West: Tre Edwards, Aaron Williams, and Princewill Umanmielen. — Charles Power, On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings

10:05 a.m. CT — West: Getting a first look at the West players warming up, and a few stand out physically. TCU signee Cordale Russell stands out among the receivers, and Malik Elzy, who was On3’s West MVP yesterday, is a bigger body for a receiver. Looking at the defense, uncommitted safety/linebacker Jelani McDonald has a stature that stands out. Among the linebackers, Texas signee Anthony Hill and Oklahoma signee Samuel Omosigho stick out. Omosigho has great length. On the offensive line, Alabama signee Kadyn Proctor, just from a body composition and burly size, sticks out among the group. — Charles Power, On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings

9:42 a.m. CT — West: After practicing at Trinity University yesterday, the West team is at the Alamodome today. They’re just arriving into the dome now. — Sam Spiegelman, National Recruiting Analyst

1:03 p.m. CT — West: Texas A&M signee Tyler White has an absolute bazooka for a leg. Just hit a casual 58-yard ball with a 4.67 hang time. — Cody Bellaire, On3 Scouting and Rankings Assistant

12:43 p.m. CT — West: Majority of practice was spent working in 7-on-7 and team periods. Malik Elzy was dominant in the passing game reeling in multiple passes and creating easy separation all morning. Jordan Shaw was by far the most impressive defensive player on the field giving up zero completions. Bai Jobe made his presence felt generating a sack and a tackle-for-loss during the team period. Lincoln Kienholz and Austin Novosad were flat out dueling this morning. Should see some 1-on-1’s during the afternoon session as well as more team periods. — Cody Bellaire, On3 Scouting and Rankings Assistant

12:02 p.m. CT: Just wrapped up morning practice for the East team. They finished with 11-on-11 at the end of the practice. Keon Keeley was again dominant with a sack on the first play. I thought Monroe Freeling looked excellent at tackle; he was passing guys off and made a lot of plays. Georgia DL signee Jordan Hall was in the backfield constantly. At quarterback, Dante Moore probably looked the best. The group as a whole struggled a little bit. But he got the ball out quickly and had a nice connection with Boston College signee Jaed’n Skeete.

Ohio State wide receiver signee Brandon Inniss leaked out and caught a touchdown in the red zone area. But overall, the story was the offensive and defensive line. — Charles Power, On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings

12:00 p.m. CT: Both teams have broken for a lunch break. Practice expected to resume in an hour.

11:56 a.m. CT — East: Notre Dame signee Brenan Vernon makes a nice play and picks off the screen pass from Oregon State QB signee Aidan Chiles. — Sam Speigelman, National Recruiting Analyst

11:41 a.m. CT — East: Just watched OL/DL 1v1s at East practice, and Keon Keeley really stole the show. He won every rep and in pretty dominating fashion. He beat offensive tackle Caden Jones on two reps and then put Luke Montgomery, the Ohio State signee, on his back with a bull rush. He showed the full skill set there with the burst at the line, the speed and the power with just running through Montgomery. It was really impressive.

A couple other standouts: Monroe Freeling looked good in his later reps once he settled in. He looked like the top offensive tackle at this practice. Georgia DL signee Jordan Hall showed off his first step and had several wins. Georgia IOL signee Kelton Smith was probably the best interior guy in that session. Won the majority of his reps as well. Tennessee DL signee Daevin Hobbs moved all over the defensive line and showed off his burst, winning a couple reps. — Charles Power, On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings

11:34 a.m. CT — East: A pair of offensive linemen having good starts to the day are Texas signee Payton Kirkland and Georgia signee Kelton Smith. — Sam Speigelman, National Recruiting Analyst

11:32 a.m. CT — West: Moved to 11-on-11 now. Oregon QB signee Austin Novosad to Malik Elzy for a big gain over the middle. Elzy had looked really smooth this morning. — Mike Singer, BlueandGold.com recruiting analyst

11:23 a.m. CT — East: Alabama five-star EDGE signee Keon Keeley shows off his bend and quickness, blowing past Caden Jones on 1-on-1s. — Sam Speigelman, National Recruiting Analyst

11:18 a.m. CT — West: Physically, Calvin Simpson-Hunt and Jelani McDonald stand out among the West defensive backs. It’s not a group with a lot of size but those two look ready to play at the next level. — Mike Singer, BlueandGold.com recruiting analyst

11:17 a.m. CT — East: Couple of standouts from the interior drills; defensive line gave the offensive line a lot of trouble. Auburn DL signee Darron Reed made multiple plays behind the line of scrimmage, as did Tennessee signee Daevin Hobbs. Both using first-step quickness to disrupt and dart into the backfield. On the offensive line, Jven Williams probably looked the best. He pulled on one play and set up what would’ve been a long run. Did a good job of getting into space and getting a body on the defense at the second level. — Charles Power, On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings

11:14 a.m. CT — East: Five-star Alabama safety signee Caleb Downs has done really well in one-on-one against five-star Ohio State signee Brandon Inniss. He’s been able to cover like a corner. He’s got a good frame, moves laterally and backwards seamlessly with great hips. — Sam Speigelman, National Recruiting Analyst

11:13 a.m. CT — East: Auburn signee Kayin Lee really impressing at cornerback. Great make-up speed, closes quickly, and has gone against some of the best wide receivers on the perimeter so far in one-on-ones at East practice. — Sam Speigelman, National Recruiting Analyst

11:10 a.m. CT — West: Louisville QB signee Pierce Clarkson hits four-star athlete Mikal Harrison-Pilot on the a post-corner route. Nice adjustment on a slightly underthrown ball. — Billy Embody, BengalTiger.com recruiting analyst

11:06 a.m. CT — West: Oregon QB signee Austin Novosad delivers a strike over the middle in 7v7 to LSU TE signee Ka’Morreun Pimpton. — Billy Embody, BengalTiger.com recruiting analyst

11:05 a.m. CT — East: Currently working on special teams for the East. Caleb Downs, Brandon Inniss, Adon Shuler, Nathaniel Joseph and Jalen Brown are among the group working as punt returners. — Charles Power, On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings

11:04 a.m. CT — West: We’re now in the full 7v7 at West practice. Pierce Clarkson just tossed a bomb to Malachi Coleman, who hauled it in over Washington signee Caleb Presley. — Mike Singer, BlueandGold.com recruiting analyst

11:00 a.m. CT — West: Cornerback Calvin Simpson-Hunt looks bigger than listed. Moving well both as a slot corner and boundary corner in group pass settings, physical on breaks and no balls thrown his way yet. — Matt Parker, Lettermen Row recruiting analyst

10:52 a.m. CT — East: Aside from a ball that slipped out of his hand, Dante Moore has been the sharpest East QB in routes on air. Accurate and on time so far. — Charles Power, On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings

10:51 a.m. CT — West: Oregon quarterback signee Austin Novosad threw a seam route, but it was well defended by Notre Dame’s Drayk Bowen, who moves well for a linebacker at around 230 pounds. — Mike Singer, BlueandGold.com recruiting analyst

10:48 a.m. CT — East: UGA signee Monroe Freeling is working at LT with Penn State signee Jven Williams at LG for the East. That’s a very athletic, fluid duo on the left side. — Charles Power, On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings

10:43 a.m. CT — East: Ohio State signee Brandon Inniss has super impressive stop-start quickness, getting open in a hurry and making catches in a vacuum. LSU WR signee Jalen Brown is looking smooth, catching the football well, high-pointing the football easily, getting in and out of his breaks and downfield. He’s been fun to watch so far. UCLA QB signee Dante Moore has been the best quarterback so far early on at East practice on time accurate, moving well on early routes Justice Haynes has been the most impressive running back in my opinion catching the football. Twitchy and built like an SEC running back.

UGA tight end signee Pearce Spurlin also shining once he got warmed up and has made some really impressive catches, including a one-hander running a vertical route down the seam. Seems to be next in line at Tight End U in Athens. — Sam Speigelman, National Recruiting Analyst

10:41 a.m. CT — West: Best looking off the bus for West team: Jelani McDonald, Keldric Faulk, Bai Jobe, Anthony Hill, Samuel Omosigho, Ka’Morreun Pimpton, Malachi Coleman, Kadyn Proctor, Sullivan Absher, Princewill Umanmielen. — Cody Bellaire, On3 Rankings Assistant

10:35 a.m. CT — East: I like what I see from Georgia tight end signee Pearce Spurlin. Very good size, stature and length. Moves well and almost has kind of big receiver movement skills. Just saw him scoop a low pass off the turf and showing some nice catch radius in routes on air. Good to see him in person and in action for the first time in a long time with injuries. — Charles Power, On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings

10:31 a.m. CT — East: Miami linebacker signee Malik Bryant is meeting with trainers now. Looks like he might’ve had an injury to his hand in warmups. — Charles Power, On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings

10:27 a.m. CT — West: LSU tight end signee Ka’Morreun Pimpton going through drills here, and he’s definitely one of the most impressive athletes of the bunch. — Billy Embody, BengalTiger.com recruiting analyst

10:25 a.m. CT — East: Watching the defensive line group go through individual drills, and it’s really a good-looking group. Alabama signee Keon Keeley is a top-five prospect; he’s very well-developed. Georgia defensive line signee Jordan Hall has a really big lower body but is an explosive mover. Tennessee DL signee Daevin Hobbs is explosive, and Florida signee Kamran James is probably the tallest of this group. And Auburn signee Darron Reed is looking really good, too. I’m looking forward to seeing them face the offensive line. I think that will be the main event on the East team. — Charles Power, On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings

10:17 a.m. CT — West: Ohio State QB signee Lincoln Kienholz running the offense against air right now. — Matt Parker, Lettermen Row recruiting analyst

10:15 a.m. CT — East: Georgia tight end signee Pearce Spurlin is one of a few future Bulldogs players here. A couple more were expected but are staying with the team as they prepare for the CFP Championship game next week. — Sam Speigelman, National Recruiting Analyst

10:13 a.m. CT — East: Alabama running back signee Justice Haynes also sticks out from a physical perspective. He’s compact, very developed, and has a lot of muscle mass. Just looks like you’d expect from a running back who could make an impact early in his college career. — Charles Power, On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings

10:11 a.m. CT — East: Receivers working on stop and start quickness right now. Five-star Ohio State signee Brandon Inniss has ready-made skills in that area. — Sam Speigelman, National Recruiting Analyst

10:09 a.m. CT — East: Notre Dame defensive line signee Brenan Vernon looks much leaner than anticipated. I believe he was around 300 pounds in the offseason; he looks much more trimmed down than that right now. And he has more of the size of a defensive end. Can definitely put some more weight back on, but leaner than expected coming out of the season. — Charles Power, On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings

10:07 a.m. CT — West: Louisville QB signee Pierce Clarkson currently working at quarterback and connects with Nebraska signee Malachi Coleman down the sideline on air. The players didn’t stretch — got right into install. — Mike Singer, BlueandGold.com recruiting analyst

10:06 a.m. CT — West: Offense is going through basic install on air, while the defense is getting formation instruction. — Mike Singer, BlueandGold.com recruiting analyst

10:04 a.m. CT — East: It’s interesting to see how some of these players warm up and how serious some of them are. You can kind of tell who is pretty locked in. A couple of guys who stick out in warmups: Alabama signee Caleb Downs, UCLA signee Dante Moore, Georgia signee Monroe Freeling, Miami signee Samson Okunlola, and Ohio State receiver signee Brandon Inniss. Not shocking if you know something about those prospects and how they approach things. — Charles Power, On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings

9:57 a.m. CT — East: Miami five-star offensive line signee Samson Okunlola looks to have added some significant weight. He has a big lower body and looks to be in the ballpark of 340 pounds right now. — Charles Power, On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings

9:53 a.m. CT — East: Clemson tight end signee Olsen Patt Henry passes the eye test. A big target that will Christopher Vizzina will surely be working with quite a bit. — Sam Speigelman, National Recruiting Analyst
